Romans: Lesson 9 – Results
The Results of Justification by Faith
Scripture Focus: Romans 5:1-11; Isaiah 53:5; Revelation 3:20 (NASB)
In this hope-filled lesson, Chris Pope explores the glorious results of being justified by faith. Paul declares that because we have been made right with God through Jesus Christ, we now have peace with God. We have access to His grace, we rejoice in hope, and we are not ashamed. Even in our suffering, we can rejoice because suffering produces perseverance, perseverance produces character, and character produces hope.
Chris connects this to the prophecy of Isaiah 53:5, which declares that Jesus was pierced for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities, and by His wounds we are healed. He also points to Revelation 3:20, where Jesus stands at the door and knocks. We receive Him by our faith, and when we open the door, He comes in and fellowships with us. This lesson reveals the incredible results of a life rooted in faith in Christ.

Scripture Focus:
Romans 5:1-11 (NASB) – "Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we also have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we celebrate in hope of the glory of God. And not only this, but we also celebrate in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous person; though perhaps for the good person someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only this, but we also celebrate in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation."
Isaiah 53:5 (NASB) – "But He was pierced for our offenses, He was crushed for our wrongdoings; The punishment for our well-being was laid upon Him, And by His wounds we are healed."
Revelation 3:20 (NASB) – "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me."
