Romans: Lesson 20 – Word of Faith

Romans: Lesson 20 – Word of Faith

Chosen for Salvation, Called to Freedom

Scripture Focus: Romans 10:1-3 (NASB)

In this heartfelt and hope-filled lesson, Chris Pope examines Paul's deep desire and prayer to God for Israel, that they may be saved. Paul testifies that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. For not knowing about God's righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

Chris reminds us that God has made all of us. No matter who we are or what we do, His will is for us to be free. We are chosen for salvation, not because of our works or our heritage, but because of His grace. The word of faith is near us, in our mouth and in our heart. When we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we are saved.

This lesson challenges us to stop trying to earn God's favor and to simply receive the gift of salvation by faith. God's will is for everyone to be free, and that freedom is found in Christ alone.

Scripture Focus:

Romans 10:1-3 (NASB) – "Brothers and sisters, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation. For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. For not knowing about God's righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God."

Additional Verses on the Word of Faith:

Romans 10:8-10 (NASB) – "But what does it say? 'The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart'—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."
